All Them Witches protégés THE SWELL FELLAS intoxicate minds with “Scatterbrain” video
‘The Great Play of Extension’ EP out now.
Ocean City, Maryland’s prolific psychedelic rock trio THE SWELL FELLAS release a subliminal and exploratory video taken from their impressive new EP ‘The Great Play of Extension’, produced by Ben McLeod.
After countless nights spent in Walmart parking lots with their 91’ Chevy van, highway breakdowns, and rented uHaul’s, THE SWELL FELLAS are building a reputation for packing out small clubs across the East coast, writing modern psych/prog rock anthems dipped in a vat of whatever was in the 70’s punch bowl. Eschewing tropes of stoner and psych bands in the scene today, these small-town east coasters are in it for the long haul with their seemingly unpredictable compositions and face-melting riffage. Following up their impressive debut album ‘The Big Grand Entrance’, the trio once again locked themselves with producer/engineer and All Them Witches guitarist Ben McLeod in The Church studio to record their new EP ‘The Great Play of Extension’. Released only three months later, this 3-track seals the trio’s smooth, expansive and definitely addictive brand of psych/prog rock, placing them among the bands to watch for anyone craving rock-solid jams and blues-infused hooks.
“Swell in more than name alone, the Maryland psychedelics generate a bold space rock sound with strong vocal delivery and effective metal attack. (…) The earnestness and power of a track like “Scatterbrain” will beckon you to explore worlds with them.” says Doomed & Stoned website.Wait no more.

The band gives more details about the EP: “These songs are extremely special to us, because we believe they capture our daily grind and mindset at this time in our early 20’s. We’re constantly working on ourselves, our mentality, the vision, and our music just trying to break out of a small town where the original music scene is slim, but we truly love the place and the people. This creates waves of emotion between the three of us feeling like we have to leave, and then the next day we’re completely at peace with who and where we are in this life we’ve been given. ‘The Great Play of Extension’ EP is a virtual experience of what it’d be like to strap in and take the ride through our combined consciousness… trapping those feelings in time.”
’The Great Play of Extension’ EP was recorded and mixed by Ben McLeod at The Church studio, and mastered by Mikey Allred at Dark Art Audio in Nashville, TN. It is available digitally on Bandcamp.

Hailing from their hometown of Ocean City, Maryland, THE SWELL FELLAS are fresh off of the release of their debut full length ‘The Big Grand Entrance’ in January, and clearly show no signs of slowing down after following up with their 3-song EP ‘The Great Play of Extension’ just a few months later.
The power trio is made up of a pair of brothers, Conner and Chris Poole (guitar and drums respectively) with their longtime friend, Mark Rohrer, a rock guitarist who they begged to buy bass gear. Growing out of their homemade backyard studio, the three old friends have distilled their personal chemistry into something greater than the sum of its parts. With larger than life lyrics inspired by the ebbs and flows of their personal lives, they remain surprisingly grounded for a band who are so prone to interstellar exploration. Furthering their sound, the trio linked up with mixing/recording mastermind Ben McLeod of All Them Witches on the album and EP to breathe life into their compositions and create a truly unique sonic experience.
