#MusicMonday May 13th

Written by on 13th May 2019

As from this week we have changed things up a little, the Metal Meyhem Radio #MusicMonday choices now come from all of the presenters here on this station, and this week it starts with Metal Ashes Radio Show host James McPhillips!

His choice for this week falls to three-piece thrash metal band from Waipu, New Zealand, formed in 2010 by brothers Lewis and Henry de Jong, who were 8 and 10 years old at the time. The band consists of Lewis de Jong (guitar and vocals), Henry de Jong (drums), and Ethan Trembath (bass guitar), and go by the name of Alien Weaponry.

Since the release of their album on 1 June 2018, Alien Weaponry have sold out headline shows in Australia and Europe; and played to record crowds at some of the biggest and most prestigious festivals and in Europe and the UK, including Wacken Open Air (Germany), MetalDays (Slovenia), Summer Breeze (Germany) and Bloodstock Open Air (UK).

James’ choice is  “Ahi Kā,” their first new material since the 2018 release of the trio’s debut album, Tū. The cut, which premiered via Billboard, will also appear on Adult Swim’s forthcoming compilation Metal Swim 2, and as our track of the week, we will play this every day at 6am, midday, 6pm and midnight.
