#MusicMonday April 1st

Written by on 1st April 2019

This week’s #MusicMonday choice brings us to South Coast band Icarus Falls.

Formed in 2014 when an ever changing line up was finalised with Doug Hay (vocals), Harvey Wigg (Lead Guitar), Lawrence Trousdale-Smith (Rhythm Guitar), Jon Morrison (Bass) and Josh Harris (Drums), they are often described as “Where Black Stone Cherry meets Alice In Chains

Following the success of the debut EP ‘Venom‘ the band secured a sought after slot on the Rising Stage at Ramblin Man Fair on the same bill as the likes of ‘The Cult‘, ‘Halestorm‘ and ‘Steel Panther‘. The band are now working on a series of singles leading up to their debut album!

The first of these singles was released this past Friday, titled “Burning Tree“, and play some dates around the south coast to promote it. Coupling a huge riff and a killer groove over which singer Doug Hay displays his unique and powerful voice, ‘Burning Tree’ also boasts a great video made by Loki Films.

Wigg explains the genesis of the track as follows: “I tend to write lyrics on my phone, then bring them into rehearsals and hand them over to Doug to work on the melody. On one occasion I gave him a lyric that I wasn’t very happy with, so I scrolled through my phone and found another that I had no recollection of. However, I then saw a note to myself at the end stating ‘Dude, you were high AF when you wrote this, but it’s awesome so make sure you turn it into a song.’ That is exactly what we did and that song is now Burning Tree’.
As our track of the week, we will play this every day at 6am, midday, 6pm and midnight.
