Let There Be Rock!!

The Monday, from 22:00 to 00:00

Formed in 2011 by massive rock fans and media graduates Gemma and Simon, and named after one of their favourite AC/DC albums.

Let There Be Rock is a classic, new and unsigned rock show aired fortnightly. Formally broadcast Monday nights 8-10pm on 96.7 Phoenix FM in Halifax, West Yorkshire.

Despite managing to avoid any type of presenting whilst at University, 80s classic rock fan and Phoenix FM show editor Gemma found herself presenting on daytime radio after being dropped in the deep end when the then Lunchtime host failed to turn up! Resorting to playing what she knew, listeners were soon exposed to some of the finest rock from across the decades (mainly 80s) instead of all that usual ‘chart drivel’ which seemed to go down well with the older listening audience… She would however have gotten away with it too if it wasn’t for those pesky kids wanting to hear music from the X-Factor’s latest over-hyped nonsense!

Enter into the live studio the stations resident ‘Web Lord’ and then co-host of the Yorkshire Underground Band Show, Simon, with a radio edit of Rage Against The Machine’s ‘Killing In The Name’ and an acoustic version of Motörhead’s ‘Ace of Spades’ and you had the foundations of something that was crying out to be more than a Lunchtime request show.

After almost 2 years of daytime radio and a number of cover slots for the stations then rock show, an opportunity to permanently present their own specialist rock show was given. In February of 2011, after many arguments about a show name, Let There Be Rock was born!

Gemma now finds herself at home now on Metal Meyhem Radio.
